e.l.f. Studio Matte Lip Color - Rich Red, Swatch and Review

Hmmm... I went to Kmart to help someone with makeup shopping and guess what happened, I ended up shopping for myself. :-)
I brought a bunch of stuff, but this post will be specifically about ELF.

My story with ELF goes long time back, when ELF craze had just started. They were just a dollar for everything.
I tried their white eyeliner, all color stick, and eyelash curler.
I was not a fan of these products, somehow I was not too impressed, but because of the price I got attracted to it. But I skipped this brand since then.

When I went to Kmart, I looked that the attractive packaging of the e.l.f. Studio Matte Lip Color and fell in love with it.
I chose two products, ELF Studio Matte Lip Color and HD Blush.

In this post I will review lip color.
I chose the shade in Rich Red for lip color.
It is in a pencil form which does not need sharpening.
For the price $2.99 the quantity and quality is pretty good.
Awesome color and awesome pigmentation.
It was a superb color. It was the red with blue undertone.

Perfect for my lips. Because of the lip color's pigmentation, it covered my dark lips very well.
It is build able to get the desired intensity.
The coverage was good and it lasted me a good 5 hours which covered eating and drinking.
It did fade a little after 3 hours but it gave a nice red tint after that.

I would definitely repurchase other shades and for $2.99 you cannot go wrong.

Nicole by OPI Roughles : On What Grounds - A Swatch & Review

My first review on a nail polish!

I actually didn't buy it, i received it in an IPSY bag (March edition).

Its not the usual nail polish that you would expect, well as the name suggests Roughles, it is rough.

If you expect anything smooth, not for you. Neither glossy nor matte, just rough, plain rough!

If its the first time buying a roughles nail paint, you might take a while to get used to it.

The brush and the consistency are pretty good, after all its OPI.

It has some very minute blackish, brown particles in it.

There is no fallout like you have in glittery nail paints.

Pros:
  • One coat shows up decent color. Good opacity.
  • Two coats lasted me a full 4 days, and its lasted me these many days its good. ( I wash my hands n number of times)
  • A good springy color.
  • You don't need a nail art.
  • The brush is good and so is the consistency.

Cons:

  • Its rough, no matter the extra top coat, it still looks the same.
  • You cant do any nail art on it

An Instant Body Scrub...

Hello People!

Again a very simple and a quickie tutorial.

A scrub for you entire body, be it face, lips, hands or legs.

First, take about 1 cup of sugar (I used granulated sugar) and transfer it in to a bigger bowl.

Add some honey in it, enough to cover the sugar.

Next add some lemon juice, 1 lemon or 2 teaspoons should be enough.

Mix it with a spatula and voila the scrub is ready.

This scrub is very good for your skin, as well is a quick, cheap and chemical free substitute to store available  scrubs.

To make it more enjoyable add a drop of your favourite essential body oil to give that aroma in your scrub.

This scrub has a number of benefits, some of it includes:

Honey works as an antiseptic for your skin, it will smooth your skin as well.

Lemon will lighten and even your skin tone.

Sugar will act as an exfoliator, a cleanser and a moisturiser.

I recommend using this scrub thrice a week and preferably at night. So that you spend some good time in scrubbing all the dirt from your skin and are not in a hurry to finish it off.

This amount lasted me a week (3 uses).

Don't forget to use a good moisturiser after using this scrub.

That's it.. Good Luck!

Nude Lips

My blogs are about looking glam with least effort. Ya you may call me lazy, but who has the time to put loads of makeup?!

Again a very simple tutorial on nude lips.

After applying lip balm, I applied foundation lightly on my lips, this can do two things,

1. Hide the pigmentation on my lips
2. Makes my lipstick stay longer

I then lined my lips using a nude lip liner (I used NYX lip liner in Nude).

I topped it up with MAC Viva Glam V which is a lovely everyday colour for your lips.

I applied NYX Megashine Gloss in Natural.

Thats it guys. How does this look? Easy isn't it?

Evening Look in a Quickie!

All tired from the office but still have a party to attend?!
Who has the time and energy to go through all the makeup? Not me, that's for sure!

Here's a tutorial which can transform you from a zombie to a glam look in a jiffy.
This is how I look after coming from office:
Yup it does look like I am the sole person in the office with all the work load, LOL!

First and foremost step, remove all makeup using a good makeup remover.
I use Baby Oil for removing face makeup and Body Shop's eye makeup remover.
After that I moisturised my lips and face using a baby cream and Avon Natural's Lip Balm.
Yes I am a big fan of baby products because they don't have any harmful chemicals and keeps your skin non-greasy and baby soft.

You must have noticed that I have pretty gross dark circles under my eyes. I took care of it by using a concealer.
MAC Studio Finish Concealer took care of that. You can find my reviews on this wonderful product here.

I used Revlon's Age Defying Foundation to lighten the redness of my face and don't forget to apply it on your neck.
For the cheeks I used a light pink shade (I used Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse) for that healthy glow.

For the eyes I skipped eyeshadow lined by eyes using a waterproof liquid eyeliner (Revlon's Colorstay Liquid Liner in Black) on the upper lash line and a water proof black kohl (Rimmel) on my waterline.
I used a white eye pencil (Elf) to highlight the inner corner of my eyes, the brow bone, on the cheeks and cupid's bow.

For the lips I used Rimmel's Amethyst Shimmer lipstick and topped it up with Neutrogena's Lip Soother for that glossy effect.

Lastly I used a matte powder for the finishing touch.

Thats it!
 Have fun!!

MAC Fluidline in Dipdown - Review

Today I will be reviewing MAC Fluidline in Dipdown which in simple words is a dark brown gel liner.
It is so soft, you feel like its a melted chocolate in a small bottle.

What the MAC website says:
Ultra-smooth, Fluidline's gel formula provides the precision of a liquid liner with a silkier, softer finish. Goes on “foolproof” with a brush in an easy dip-and-stroke action. Long-wearing. Smudge-proof. Lines up in a rich array of colours and finishes.

Product review:

Packaging: small, compact, easy to carry in your makeup bag, looks cute :-)

Advantages: multiple uses, soft silky feel while applying, good pigmentation, product lasts long, smudge proof, water proof, waterline safe, stays on the eye for 6-7 hours, does not flake like other long lasting eyeliners, does not dry out (have been using it for 2 years and it still looks the same).

Disadvantage: Other brand gel liners like L'Oreal and Maybeline which are long lasting, cheaper than MAC,give liner brushes, MAC should also start giving their liner brushes.

I somehow feel that if the shade had been more dark, no brand could compete with it.

Fluidline in Dipdown can be used in different ways:
1. As an eyeliner
2. On waterline
3. On eyebrows
4. As an eyeshadow base

Layer up the gel liner with a slight touch of black kohl for a soft brown smokey look without the extra effort!

Price Range: U.S $ 15.00
                    INR 1000

It can be used on all skin types.

Makeup for a Sweaty Day!

Comeon ladies , let's face it, not every place is equipped with Air Conditioners.
On top of that the severe humidity during monsoon.
Ufff! Just because you are a housewife doesnt mean that you don't have the right to look good.
Some makeup tips for the strong and powerful women who deserve to look good no matter how much she sweats:-), right ladies?

1. Immediately after taking bath apply some oil free moisturiser and immediately apply loose or compact powder to make the face look non greasy and fresh.
2. Take a pink shade of cream blush and gently dab it to the apple of the cheeks. Pink blush gives the natural blushed look.
3. Next apply a lip balm and lip tint to add colour to the face.
4. Apply a water proof kohl/kajal to the waterline to instantly open up your eyes.
5. Finally dab a little loose powder and you are good Togo!

This look will keep you good for at least 4 hours and then wash your face with a soap free face wash and repeat the steps from to 1 to 5.
Use a mild daily exfoliator at night to remove all dirt and left over makeup.
Apply a toner followed by a good night cream and in the morning, hola, a happy and a pretty face ready to take up the world.

Products that can be used:
Neutrogena Daily Face Wash
Vaseline body lotion/Garnier oil free moisturiser
